In this project, I was asked to create two apartments for two families with very different needs inside of the historic Oddfellows Lodge building in downtown Columbus, IN. One apartment was to be used as an entertaining space for the Hawkins, an extended American family, to host large family dinners, community events, and private parties. The second apartment was for a family of Afghan refugees just settling in the U.S. While the Hawkins wanted a large, open entertaining space, the refugees needed a clear separation of public and private spaces.
